Citizen hosting in Paris
The programme for long-term citizen hosting of unaccompanied minors is making good progress.
At the moment, in the context of our partnership with Doctors Without Borders, 9 young refugees are hosted long-term by volunteer families in Ile-de-France. 8 boys and 1 girl, aged between 15 and 17, thereby have accommodation until the end of their administrative procedures.
Over the month of October, 1482 people were provided with accommodation, including 732 children. Thanks to a system of shifts, where families take turns hosting a young refugee for a month every three months, the host families can still take “breaks”. They can organize their schedule with the other hosts, so that they have time for their other obligations and can host the young refugee without stress.
We are very grateful to these volunteer citizen hosts, to the volunteers that accompany the refugees to the hosts, and to all those that provide daily help to the unaccompanied minors that have not yet had the chance to be placed in a host family.
If you would like to take part in this project with us, there are many things you can do: you can host a young refugee in your home long-term, or a single woman or a family for a night, you can help us phone potential hosts, or meet with them in their homes so that they can sign the hosting convention go to their homes to sign the convention, or you can help us spread information on citizen hosting around you!
